I don’t know where my obsession with fresh flowers comes from.
It might be that it’s in my genes. My great-grandfather was a florist and owned a large florist business in Philadelphia. He actually used to enter my grandmother into baby parades in the early 1930s in Wildwood and Cape May, NJ. She would pose on a float overflowing with gorgeous fresh flowers as he pulled her proudly down the boardwalk.
Whatever it is, I just absolutely love fresh flowers and often daydream about filling my home with them. So, for me, a flower shop full of inspiring, breathtaking arrangements is heaven and Studio 539 located on Wickenden Street in Providence is no exception.
I mean, look at it!
One of my favorite things about this particular florist is their use of texture. They always have unusual, exotic looking flowers and greenery scattered around the shop that adds a layer of interest and character to the place and to their arrangements.
The old, exposed wooden beams, stone fireplace, and antique furniture used for display also add a great deal of character to the shop (I wanted to take this antique hutch home with me!). They also have a lot of beautiful glassware, pottery, and other homeware to browse: colorful glass bottles, rustic boxes, mercury glass candle holders, and antiqued metal lanterns.
I absolutely loved these Anthropologie-esque purple bowls. How cute are they?!
This little shop specializes in wedding flowers servicing Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, but they also do incredible everyday arrangements. While I haven’t ordered a formal arrangement from them yet, they have a 4.5 star rating on yelp and rave reviews, and many people have mentioned that the team there work very hard to create beautiful, unique arrangements within whatever budget you may have.
They also offer workshops on Floral Design ranging from Beginner to Experienced. With my fascination with flowers bordering on obsessive, I just might have to sign up for one.
